At San Joaquin Coffee Co in California, we are dedicated to providing our customers with the best quality coffee beans. To better understand how to brew our coffee to perfection, read through our blog and visit our coffee brewing basics instructions.
The Best Coffee Beans
The type of bean, where it is grown, and how it is processed all play a role in the flavor of the final product. At San Joaquin Coffee Co, we only use Arabica coffee beans. These high-quality beans are grown close to the equator at an elevation of 3000 - 6000 feet. Coffee Connoisseurs will often only use Arabica beans because they know it makes the best coffee.
The Roast
The beans must be roasted to the perfect temperature in order to bring out their natural flavors. We use the gentle heat of air roasting to ensure our beans retain as much flavor as possible. Coffee beans are best used just 10 days after roasting, so if you need to store them, ensure it is in an air-tight jar away from heat and sunlight.
The Grind
The grinding method is often an overlooked part of preparing your coffee. We prefer a quality burr conical coffee grinder to ensure a consistent grind. Blade grinders tend to create varying sizes of grounds and have a tendency to heat the beans as it grinds, compromising the quality.
Brewing Method
The water quality, temperature, contact time, and even the filter play a large role in how well of a cup of coffee you will brew. For the best results, use filtered water that is just below the boiling point, and only let it come into contact with the grounds for no more than three to four minutes.
