Good morning! Today I am going to share a new recipe with you, a latte that is naturally sweetened with organic maple syrup, combined with one of our best selling flavored coffees… Toasted Pecan!

I am a huge fan of all things pecan. I add pecans to salads, dessert crusts, ice cream toppings, and once even crusted some fish with finely chopped pecans (yes it was good!). Lately I have been thinking about pairing it with coffee, and after some trial and error, I came up with this recipe.
I am also a big fan of pure maple syrup. I’m talking the real thing, not imitation maple-flavored pancake syrup. I have fond memories of a class field trip when I was a kid, where they took pure maple syrup and drizzled it on the snow. It instantly hardened and then. We. Got. To. Eat. It. I can still still taste it. Now as an adult I still love the flavor, and I also love the fact that it’s a natural sweetener, healthier and more nutritious than sugar.
There are many different ways a person can make a latte, depending of course on what kind of equipment you have. I am spoiled with having an espresso machine in my house, but I know that a lot of people can make good coffee drinks using strong brewed coffee. My frother/steamer on my espresso maker is impaired, so I have been improvising in this department the last year, (as well as shopping for a new espresso maker :)) So I’m going to share with you my method of the day, and you can tweak this recipe to your equipment on hand.
Disclaimer: Attention baristas and coffee snobs, you really should stop reading at this point. I do not have professional equipment, and an making do with what I have, until I get the gleaming new machine I have been drooling over.
Maple Pecan Latte Recipe
- 2 Tbsp. Organic Maple Syrup plus more for garnish
- 2 oz. espresso made with Toasted Pecan Flavored Beans or strong fresh brewed coffee
- 6 oz. cold 2% milk, frothed and steamed
Recipe Directions:
- I start by warming my coffee mug up. There are two ways to do this. If I am boiling water to make coffee, I just pour some into the cup. Today I put an inch or two of water into the mug and warmed it in the microwave for 1 minute.
- Prepare machine to make espresso or coffee and grind toasted pecan coffee beans.
- Put cold milk into a quart size glass jar, tighten the lid, and shake vigorously for one minute. (Pat yourself on the back that you are getting a cardio and upper body workout while preparing food. Win win!)Milk should have doubled in volume. Remove lid and microwave on high power for 1 minute. (Time will vary depending on microwave.) Milk should be hot but not boiling. Ideally milk temperature should be between 135° and 160°.
- Empty water out of mug and pour in 2 Tbsp. maple syrup.
- Stir in hot espresso.
- Add hot steamed milk, spooning frothed milk over top.
- Drizzle with more naturally delicious maple syrup.
I hope you enjoy this recipe and share it with someone you love today!
Happy Friday!
